Tax Manager – Hybrid Schedule (3 Days In Office / 2 Days WFH) | Wakefield, MA | $130K–$165K
Location: Wakefield, MA
Schedule: Hybrid – 3 days in the office, 2 days working from home
Salary: $130,000–$165,000 annually
Our client, a well-established and growing public accounting firm, is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join its collaborative and client-focused team. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned tax professional who enjoys building client relationships, leading engagements, mentoring staff, and contributing to the continued growth of a dynamic CPA firm.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong public accounting background, exceptional technical tax knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple client engagements while providing outstanding client service.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple tax engagements from planning through completion.
- Review complex federal and state tax returns and supporting workpapers for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, and corporations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, serving as a trusted advisor on tax planning and compliance matters.
- Conduct tax research and provide practical solutions to complex tax issues.
- Plan and coordinate engagement schedules, deadlines, and staff assignments.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop tax staff, providing coaching and technical guidance.
- Communicate proactively with clients and internal team members regarding project status, planning opportunities, and technical matters.
- Manage engagement budgets, productivity, and overall client satisfaction.
- Participate in business development activities and help expand existing client relationships.
- Assist with consulting projects and other special assignments as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- Active CPA license required.
- 10+ years of public accounting tax experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of individual, partnership, S corporation, and corporate taxation.
- Experience managing multiple client engagements simultaneously.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a client-service mindset.
- Experience with tax preparation and accounting software, including QuickBooks and professional tax software, preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
