We are seeking a skilled Staff Accountant with at least five years of relevant experience to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong analytical skills, and have a proven track record of effectively managing financial tasks in a fast-paced environment. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and assisting with various accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  2. Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP.
  3. Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entry preparation and review.
  4. Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for budget vs. actual discrepancies.
  5. Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, collaborating with department heads to ensure accuracy and alignment with organizational goals.
  6. Prepare and file state and local tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  7. Support the annual external audit process by providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
  8. Assist in the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems and processes to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
  9. Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management.
  10. Stay updated on accounting principles and regulations to ensure compliance and best practices.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment.
  2. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
  4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  5. Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment.
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  7. Experience in the manufacturing/retail/healthcare/financial services industry is a plus.
  8. Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
