Partnering with a great Boston Law Firm who is adding a Real Estate Paralegal to their team!

This paralegal plays a crucial role in supporting real estate transactions and legal processes within a law firm. This position involves assisting attorneys with due diligence, document preparation, title research, and closing activities to facilitate smooth and efficient real estate transactions.

Responsibilities:

Due Diligence:

  • Conduct comprehensive due diligence on properties, including title searches, lien searches, and zoning research.
  • Review and analyze property surveys, environmental reports, and other relevant documents to identify potential issues or concerns.

Document Preparation:

  • Draft and prepare legal documents and contracts related to real estate transactions, such as purchase agreements, leases, deeds, and easements.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing closing documents, including Settlement Statements and closing statements.

Title Work:

  • Assist with title clearance processes, reviewing title commitments, surveys, and property records to identify title defects and encumbrances.
  • Coordinate with title companies and underwriters to resolve title issues and obtain title insurance policies.

Closing Coordination:

  • Coordinate real estate closings, communicating with clients, lenders, title companies, and other parties to ensure all necessary documentation and funds are in order.
  • Attend closings and assist attorneys with the execution of closing documents, disbursement of funds, and recording of deeds and other instruments.

Client Communication:

  • Serve as a point of contact for clients, answering inquiries, providing updates on transaction progress, and addressing concerns in a professional and timely manner.

File Management:

  • Maintain organized and up-to-date files for real estate transactions, including correspondence, documents, and financial records.
  • Ensure compliance with document retention policies and procedures.

Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct legal research on real estate laws, regulations, and precedents to support attorneys in case preparation and strategy development.
  • Summarize findings and assist in the preparation of legal memoranda and briefs.

Administrative Support:

  • Provide general administrative support to attorneys, such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and preparing expense reports.
  • Assist with billing and invoicing activities related to real estate matters.
