We are adding to staff in our Orleans location. This job is Monday- Friday, onsite hours flexible.


Description

This salaried exempt position will report to the Director of Human Resources

The Generalist will assist with the daily functions of the Human Resource department including but not limited to - interviewing for hourly positions, administering pay, new hire orientation, benefits, and leave of absences, employee relations, and enforcing company policies and practices.

  • Implements new hire orientation and onboarding
  • Conducts training with Supervisors and employees
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to employee recognition, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale.
  • Assist with employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Create and distribute internal communications regarding status changes, benefits, or company policies.
  • Monitor and assist with enhancement of employee engagement and company culture.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field or PHR or SPHR certification
  • 3-5 years human resources experience
  • Experience in working within a Union Environment
  • Experience with HRIS systems - Workday knowledge a plus
  • Understanding of state and federal employment regulations
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook)
