About The Role

As an Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the office by using your experience and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and the financial properties of a law office to contribute to the strategic planning and implementation of the goals and objectives of the department. Other key responsibilities include:

Responsibilities include:

Management of firm accounting functions including general ledger and month end close processes, fixed asset reporting, cash application, budgeting process and other accounting functions. Would require aptitude to learn a variety of software platforms.
Partner with Accounts Payable manager and team to support integration of function, cross-training, backup and overflow between accounting and accounts payable team. Will require proficiency in the firm’s AP workflow software (Chrome River/Emburse).
Assisting with the yearend review of financial statements, preparation of tax returns and other tax reporting requirements.
Assisting with the firm’s banking needs and credit card platforms.
Assisting with financial analysis requested by firm management.
Implementing enhancements to improve accounting and financial policies and procedures
This position requires an individual with 5+ years of experience in accounting with supervisory experience and a four-year accounting/finance degree.

Skills

Proven experience as an accountant or bookkeeper
Excellent organizing abilities
Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software
QuickBooks experience a plus, but not required
BS/BA in accounting, finance, or relevant field

And have:

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; a CPA or MBA is a plus
A minimum of six (5) years of increasingly complex accounting experience as well as a minimum of seven (4) years of experience in an accounting management capacity, with a minimum of four (4) years of experience in general accounting practices
Strong knowledge of legal billing is desired.
