Contract Tax Manager – Fund Administration (Mutual Funds / ETFs)

📍 Boston, MA | Hybrid (3 days in office, 1 day remote)
📅 Contract: October 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027
Approximately 36 hours per week

A premier Boston-based financial services firm is seeking an experienced Contract Tax Manager to join its Fund Administration team. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned investment management tax professional to support tax oversight and compliance for a portfolio of mutual funds and ETFs during a critical reporting period.

Responsibilities

  • Review and oversee mutual fund (RIC) income tax and excise tax provisions and supporting workpapers
  • Review federal and state tax returns and supporting documentation
  • Oversee year-end 1099 reporting and ensure compliance with IRS regulations
  • Monitor compliance with Subchapter M and regulated investment company (RIC) requirements
  • Review distribution calculations and tax estimates supporting shareholder reporting
  • Partner with fund accountants, custodians, auditors, and external tax providers to ensure accurate and timely deliverables
  • Support tax-related financial reporting and regulatory disclosures
  • Research and interpret tax regulations affecting investment funds
  • Assist with tax matters related to fund launches, mergers, liquidations, and other fund events

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in mutual fund (RIC) and/or ETF taxation
  • Strong knowledge of Subchapter M and regulated investment company tax rules
  • Experience reviewing tax provisions, tax returns, 1099 reporting, and distribution calculations
  • Investment management, fund administration, or investment company tax experience
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Experience

  • CPA or public accounting background
  • Experience supporting mutual funds, ETFs, or other investment companies
  • Familiarity with fund administrators, custodians, and auditors
  • Experience with complex securities and investment products
