Job Description:

As a Medical Administrative Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare facility. You will be responsible for performing a variety of administrative tasks to support our medical staff and ensure efficient patient care delivery. This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a customer-focused mindset.

Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Reception: Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner, providing assistance and direction as needed.
  2. Appointment Scheduling: Schedule patient appointments, ensuring accuracy of information and efficient use of provider time.
  3. Medical Records Management: Maintain electronic health records (EHR) accurately and securely, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  4. Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits, obtaining pre-authorizations as necessary.
  5. Billing Support: Assist with billing inquiries, processing insurance claims, and coordinating payment arrangements with patients.
  6. Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to medical staff, including managing phone calls, correspondence, and filing.
  7. Patient Communication: Communicate with patients regarding appointment reminders, test results, and other relevant information in a professional and compassionate manner.
  8. Quality Assurance: Assist in maintaining quality assurance standards and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  9. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with healthcare providers, nurses, and other staff members to ensure seamless coordination of patient care.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or certificate in healthcare administration preferred.
  • Proven experience in a medical office setting or similar administrative role.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing procedures preferred.
  • Compassionate and customer-focused attitude towards patient care.
