As an organization committed to fostering positive change, we are looking for a candidate who will play a crucial role in managing and administering all accounting systems and processes. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate will prepare financial reports, manage internal controls and cost allocations, and supervise the Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Billing, and Accounts Payable staff. We are seeking an Accounting Manager with a strong commitment to effective financial stewardship, ensuring our ability to continue delivering services to the people we serve.

What You'll Do as the Accounting Manager:

  • Be responsible for Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Billing/Accounts Receivable functions.
  • Manage monthly and annual accounting processes, including close processes, journal entries, and adjustments.
  • Supervise Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Billing, and Accounts Payable staff.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer in the implementation of the Agency budget.
  • Oversee agency audits, including the annual audit and state/federal audits.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise finance staff.
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and mechanisms for internal fiscal control.
  • Ensure daily agency cash management and develop monthly cash flow planning and reporting.
  • Stay current with technology applications, including HR/Payroll systems and data management systems.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards and integrity in all business activities.

What You'll Need as the Accounting Manager:

  • Minimum of three years of experience in nonprofit/governmental accounting.
  • At least one year of supervisory/managerial experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four-year college or university in a relevant discipline.
  • Strong understanding of general business periodicals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts and interpret technical instructions.
  • Familiarity with governmental contract systems, practices, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in MIS and FIS systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check required.
